How to lose 5 pounds in one month

Losing weight can be tough and frustrating at times, however using the right plan to lose weight can uplift your chances of losing weight and then maintaining it. Before you start exercising, it is best to lay out ideal goals for yourself which will help you throughout the process.

So, here are a few figures for you to get an idea of what we're going to target and achieve:
  • 1 pound = 3500 calories
  • 5 pounds = 3500 x 5 = 17500 calories
  • 5 pounds in 30 days = 17500 / 30 = 550 calories per day
Therefore, you will need to have a shortfall of approximately 550 calories everyday to achieve your goal of losing 5 pounds in 30 days. The first step in trying to lose 550 calories a day will be to find out your current BMR (basal metabolism rate).

The basal metabolism rate will tell you how many calories you body burns everyday for its own functioning. There are a couple of online calculators that can help you figure this out by asking your current weight, gender, age and height.

The BMR will tell you a figure that can be from 1400 to over 2000. Now it's up to you whether you couple this with exercise or not. A moderate level excercise of about 30 minutes a day can help you burn an extra 150-200 calories.

So now, you will need to cut rest of your 350 calories from your diet and you'll be well on your way to dropping over 5 pounds every month. Best of luck.
